Animatic
This is an idea of some of the shots that I will use in my video. Although there isn't much on the animatic, I will be repeating some of these shots and there will be alot more of the narrative. The pictures will also be in quicker succession and will be more suitable for the genre.

Final Cut and Green Screen tutorial
To achieve this affect, I clicked on Effects, then Video Filters, then Key and then Chroma Keyer. This then came up with a tab named Chroma Keyer. I used the ink blotter to click on a colour from the green screen. After that, I altered the slides named Chroma, Sat and Luma. I could also have used Edge Thin, Softening and Enhance and altered them, but this would have created the unnecessary effect.
To achieve this, I clicked on the button with the diamond in it, then I went onto View, then clicked on Image and Wideframe. After doing this, I moved the image in the box on the ride and changed the shape of the picture. Playing this through showed the box moving and decreasing in size.
To create a transition, I highlighted the area between where I cut. I selected effects, then video transitions, then Quicktime and then final implode.
This is an image to prove that I know how to cut. I selected the appropriate footage and used the razor tool to cut the appropriate footage. After that, I highlighted the unwanted footage and pressed delete to get rid of the unwanted footage.
This is an image of how I selected the footage of the video that I wanted. I played the footage until I got the start of the footage that I wanted. I pressed the button which looks as though it means to skip a chapter in a film and then I pressed the button which looks as though it means to rewind a chapter in a film, selecting the appropriate footage.

Genre conventions
Shot count analysis
Audience profile
Technical death metal is associated with screaming vocals, fast guitar and bass riffs, and machine like drums. So the people who would be associated with listening to this type of music must be as hardcore as the bands themselves. Traditionally, they have long hair, long enough to do a professional headbang, they wear band T-shirts, dark make-up or just nail varnish and they wear either cut up jeans or combats with trainers. They tend to be well built and they majority of the people who listen to this type of music would be men. However, when the occaional girl does listen to technical death metal, they wear band T-shirts, jeans and trainers. They do sometimes wear leather, corsets or boots and they do sometimes wear dark make-up or just nail varnish.
My main basis of my audience research is my friend Callum. This is his general profile:
Callum Crane
He is 17 years old and listens to bands such as Mudvayne, Dethklok, The Faceless, Through The Eyes Of The Dead, Sepultura... He tends to wear band shirts, loose trousers and jeans, trainers and sometimes he wears a trenchcoat and New Rocks. When he finishes college he wants to be a character profile designer for the gaming industry.
music advertisement analysis
The advertisement I have chosen is Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson's Break Up. The colours are very plain, suggesting that the music they perform is contemporary. The picture is of the two of them together, writing material. This indicates that they aren't a band and may be doing this as a one time thing. The clothes that Peter is wearing suggests that the music is associated with either indie music or country and Western music. However, the words indicate that the music may be rock.
digipak analysis
The digipak I have chosen to analyse is Slipknot. The colour red signifies danger, which means that the band is not for the faint hearted. However, looking at the background of the picture shows curtains, which shows that the band likes to put on a show, to get the crowd going and the fans interested. The band are shown, which indicates that the band would rather show who they are, getting those who have not heard of them interested. They are also wearing red which indicates danger, showing that the band are not for the faint hearted. The excessive amount of red is rather cathcing to the eye, making customers drawn to the different shades of red.

Cannibal Corpse-Make Them Suffer music video analysis
This video uses all of the micro elements to the advantage. Through cinematography, there are alot of camera shots, showing that in this video, they go by the beat as well as going by the literal lyrics. The video is a half narrative and half live performance based video. The video has equal shots of all band members, either all together in a long shot or all individual using medium shots. The only parts of the video which uses extreme close ups is the narrative parts of the video, having extreme close ups of the actor's eyes or hands. The eyes to show his reaction to waking up in the room, to show his tiredness, to show his fear and to show his stress of being held in the room by himself. His hands are also shown to show his stress and his fear, but also his failing attempts to escape from his prison.
The pace of the song is very fast, the instruments almost acting as though they are in a war, the drums representing guns, the singing to represent the screams of the anguished, the bass representing the low grumbling of the ground when the tanks roll over and the guitar representing the echoing sound of victory in the distance. The editing also matches the speed of the song, involving alot of jump cuts.
The main colours of the music video are black and blue, black representing the type of band; tech death metal, and the blue representing the man's waiting and suffering. Whilst the band is playing, they are surrounded by smoke, showing the speed in which they are playing. There are flashes of light, which could possibly represent the call of death, the light representing the light in which those who are dead must walk through to reach purgatory, to be judged on the sins they have committed and to see if they have forgiven themselves for their past sins.
9 frame analysis
The video I chose to do my 9 frame analysis on is the song Forgiveness Denied by Aeon. The first photo is an over the shoulder shot of a priest looking at a book with religious connotations. I chose to analyze a video which is half narrative and half live because it can explain a hidden story behind the song. If I can't do this however, I will create an all narrative video. The shot of the vicar suggests that something is about to happen to him. Him looking at a book of religious association suggests that religion holds a major role in the story.
The second shot is a close up of the singer's face. In technical death metal videos, they do tend to use a lot of close ups of the singer's face, as it it supposed to show the anger and aggression that the singer uses to speak his words.
Next is an extreme close up of the guitar being played. They also tend to use a lot of these to emphasize the speed the band plays at.
The next shot is a side preview of the vicar reading the book and a young man walking past the window. This shows that the vicar is completely unaware of the young man and is not expecting his visit. The next few seconds after this shows that the young man is there to torture the vicar and to kill him.
There is then a low angle of the guitarist, showing his dominance and how his guitar playing is the main part of the song.
There is then a profile shot of the band. These shots are typically found in music videos of this genre.
Photo number seven is a tracking shot of the young man walking towards the vicar. The fact that they are following the young man's movements shows his power over the vicar. This is also used to show the reaction of the vicar, showing his weakness towards the young man.
Picture number eight is an extreme close up of the young man's foot standing on the vicar's glasses. This is a representation in that the shoe represents the young man and the glasses represent the vicar, meaning that the vicar is about to be tortured and killed by the young man.
The final photo is the vicar being tortured. He is in a dark room, creating a sense of isolation and increasing the feeling of fear. The vicar looks as the has already been tortured. He wears a chain around his neck, suggesting that the vicar is now a prisoner and paying for his own past sins.
The colour palette of this video is light, which turns to dark, showing that even though the most kind people will eventually have their past sins catch up with them.

Album cover analysis
All of these album colours have dark colours, which is typical of a rock album cover. Also, all of these album covers represent the darker side of life, ie, The Devil’s Got A New Disguise features a skull containing 2 children drinking alcohol, The Open Door features Amy Lee, the singer, walking from a shadowed area, Only One features a picture of a man’s face with part of it missing, Dethalbum 2 features an evil mermaid and Silver Side Up features a pictures of an eye with tears falling from it.
Another way of distinguishing the genre of the music video is to look at the font style and the colour palette. All of the album covers contain black and many other dark colours, mainly dark blue. The font style of Only One and Silver Side Up is black and bold, whilst The Devil’s Got A New Disguise has got a rune-istic quality to it, and the colour of this writing is white. The Open Door is the band’s writing, therefore showing that the band has a say in what goes on the front cover of their album and Dethalbum 2 also has the band’s font of writing, showing furthermore that the creators of Dethklok had a say in what goes on Dethklok’s albums.
I think the idea of album covers are to help promote the genre of the band, by showing what the conventions of the genre entails. It is also a conventional way to make money, by selling albums, singles or digipacks, which features exclusive extras, including DVDs and posters of when a band was recently on tour.
